What should I expect during the evaluation?An evaluation typically lasts 45 minutes -1 hour depending on your diagnosis and medical history. The evaluation includes a thorough discussion of your medical history, assessment of your strengths and impairments, discussion of your goals and expectations, and education of results and recommendations.

What should I expect with therapy?Treatment is determined based upon your evaluation results and clinician recommendations. Goals are determined jointly by you, the clinician, and your family. Treatment is typically recommended on a weekly basis with a frequency of 1, 2, or 3 visits per week. Treatment sessions are typically 30-45 minutes in length. The treatment period can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on your needs. Therapy can continue for greater than 3 months for some disorders.

What are the benefits of private in-home therapy services?Private in-home* services offer highly skilled care in the comfort of your home. Therapy is provided in a familiar and functional environment which is beneficial to both children and adults. Private therapy services focus on your individual needs in a 1:1 environment with focus on your goals and education and support for your family. It is a great option for individuals with complex medical needs, compromised immune systems, or reduced physical endurance for community outings. In-home therapy is also very convenient for individuals or families that juggle many priorities and desire to limit drive time to medical/therapy appointments. *Services may be provided in daycare, preschool, or work/office settings as appropriate and as permitted.

How long will I need therapy?Discharge from services depends upon your response to therapy. Discharge planning starts from the initial evaluation with a collaborative effort between you, the clinician, and your family (as appropriate). Discharge typically occurs when one or more of the following are achieved: you meet established short term and long term goals, you transition to an independent home program, you have reached maximum potential in therapy, or you have reached your desired level and you are satisfied with your progress.

Is online therapy right for me?Online therapy is a great option for those who do not have access to speech therapy close by. It is also a great option for individuals and families that juggle many priorities and would benefit from attending sessions from the comfort of their own home or office. We know, however, that it isn't a great fit for everyone. That's why we offer a free 15 minute consultation before you commit to online therapy.

What technology do I need for online speech therapy?The following equipment is required to participate in online speech therapy: a computer with a built-in or external web cam and microphone high speed internet connection an email account Google Chrome or Moxilla Foxfire internet browser Our therapists recommend the following to help get the most out of your sessions: headphones good lighting a quiet environment with limited background noise and no distraction presence of a parent or caregiver for assistance and education
